(MT. VERNON, IL) — A Sunday morning car-motorcycle collision claimed the life of the motorcyclist.  At approximately 10:19 a.m., an automobile driven by 81 year old George Loker of Keenes was southbound on 13th Street at the intersection with Main Street and was stopped at a stop sign. According to the accident report, Loker indicated that there was an automobile traveling westbound in the north lane of Main Street, but felt that the distance was safe enough to proceed into the intersection.  A motorcycle driven by 56 year old Frankie D. Belmont of Bluford was westbound in the south lane of Main Street and collided with the driver’s side door of the Loker vehicle, turning the motorcycle counterclockwise and ejecting Belmont from the motorcycle.  Belmont was transported from the scene to Crossroads Community Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.  Loker and a passenger in his vehicle, 65 year old Brenda Stephens of Waltonville, were transported to SSM Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment of injuries incurred in the accident.  Loker was cited for failure to yield at a stop intersection.
