(CENTRALIA, IL) — Emergency responders from Centralia Fire Protection District, Lifestar, Air-Evac and the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle vs. train crash around 5:15 p.m. Thursday on Shattuc Road at Hugo Road just north of the rail crossing. According to CFPD, one occupant was airlifted from the scene to a St. Louis area hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in the crash. Bystanders reported the female victim was ejected from the vehicle in the crash. Her condition, extent of injuries, and identity are not available at this time. Clinton County Emergency Management was on scene to direct traffic as emergency personnel responded to the crash and the cleanup. The road was closed for a few hours but was reopened before 8:30 p.m. Firefighters returned to quarters around 7:43 p.m. The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office expects to have more information to release Friday.
