(MT. VERNON, IL) — A 41-year-old Mt. Vernon man was sentenced Wednesday in Marion County court to 2-years in prison after he pleaded guilty to the lesser meth-related felony against him. Chad Pepple was facing Class 2 felony charges of possessing meth-manufacturing material and possessing less than 15 grams of meth precursors, Class 3 felony possession of less than 5 grams of meth, and misdemeanor retail theft. Pepple pleaded guilty to the Class 3 felony charge in exchange for the others being dismissed. He was arrested in March 2015 after he reportedly left the Salem Walmart store without paying for medications containing Pseudoephedrine, ran toward the gas station and then threw the merchandise back at the loss prevention worker who was pursuing him. Upon officers’ arrival, the worker told them Pepple had purchased pseudoephedrine before and they had his identification information.
