Comptroller: Illinois Unpaid Bills Reaches $14 Billion

(SPRINGFIELD, IL)  —  Illinois’ debt continues to grow during the state budget crisis.  Comptroller Susana Mendoza’s office announced yesterday that the state’s unpaid backlog of bills has reached just over 14-billion-dollars.  Mendoza says the number increased after Governor Rauner’s budget office reported over one-billion-dollars in liabilities held at state agencies.
