Rauner Dismisses House Budget Offer

(Chicago, IL) — With two weeks left before the constitutional deadline to pass a state budget, Governor Rauner is turning aside an overture from House Democrats. Governor Rauner is brushing off their versions of reforms Rauner’s been seeking on workers comp, property tax relief and health care. Rauner calls it a stall, saying their real intention is to derail the Senate where there seems to be progress on a budget. Rauner also says that he opposes another stopgap spending plan. Senate Democrats are wary, since Rauner scuttled the last version of a Senate budget deal.
