George Strait Introduces New Tequila Brand

George Strait is the latest artist to dive into the liquor business. Last week, Kix Brooks, Martina McBride and Chase Rice showed up in Nashville for a private tasting of George Strait’s new brand of tequila called Codigo 1530. The tasting was held at Studio A on Music Row which was significant because that’s where George recorded his first album back in the early 80s.

King George introduced his partners/co-founders, Ron Snyder and Federico Vaughan, at the event and talked about how their tequila brand came to fruition. George said they met on a golf course in Mexico, and that’s when he first got to taste what would become Codigo 1530. George explained, “We would be out there playing and Feddy would show up with this amazing tequila that nobody had ever tried before and it had no name. It was in a random bottle with no label. He said it was tequila. We trusted him and drank it. We (George and Ron) were like, we have to have this in the States. We’ve got to get this back home so we can buy it at home. It wasn’t like we were sitting around one night trying to decide, ‘Hey let’s come up with a tequila and go to the States and sell it.’ It took a lot of talking to get this whole ball rolling. It took a lot of time and a lot of convincing.”
