More Illinois Jobless Stop Looking: Survey

(Chicago, IL) — A new study of jobless people is revealing that a greater percentage of job-seekers in Illinois give up looking for work than in other parts of the country. A survey done by Harris Poll for Express Employment Professionals found that 44-percent of jobless people in Illinois said they’d completely given up looking for work, a number that’s risen in each of the past two years. Nationally, the trend is in the other direction, as 33-percent of jobless people say they’d stopped looking for work — down from 40-percent who’d dropped out of the labor force last year.
