CHICAGO (AP) — Attorney General Lisa Madigan is pushing legislation aimed at protecting students who take out loans for college. The plan would require student loan servicers to get a state license and establish a “student loan bill of rights” which outlines information companies have to provide, including on all of their repayment options. It also creates the position of a student loan ombudsman in the attorney general’s office.
