CENTRALIA — A Centralia woman was taken to the Marion County Jail on Friday night after allegedly leaving the scene of an accident, resisting a peace officer and upon discovery of an outstanding Marion County warrant. The warrant was for a previous robbery. 32-year-old Natasha Benitez was discovered at a nearby home following an accident where she reportedly hit a gas line in the 500 block of South Poplar. Centralia Fire Fighters had to monitor the gas leak until Ameren crews could arrive. Police reports indicate that other occupants in the vehicle reported Benitez was driving. Benitez was uncooperative with CPD as they questioned her about the accident and reportedly refused to discuss the incident. Additional officers had to be called to assist in getting Benitez outside to be taken into custody.
