MARION COUNTY — Centralia Fire Protection District Firefighters assisted in the rescue of three Salem teens Friday evening in the floodwaters of Crooked Creek in rural Marion County. The three teens attempted to drive through the waters in their pickup truck when it stalled as they attempted to cross Norton Road between Green Street and Community Beach Roads. The firefighters found the teens sitting atop the truck and were prepared to rescue them in a boat before discovering the water was shallow enough to escape on foot. Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies also were called to the scene where the pickup truck was abandoned until flood waters receded.
