(TRENTON, IL) — Residents and motorists along the normally out of service CSX railroad tracks that run through Clinton and Marion counties should be aware of train activity on the normally unused tracks. The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office announced Saturday morning that the out of service tracks are being used by CSX for rail car storage. The sheriff’s office says activity was first reported Saturday morning in Trenton, with the storage cars moving eastbound. There are reports that some crossings had flares set up, with CSX workers stopping traffic as the train clears the crossings. According to CSX, they’re moving train cars east for storage, and activity on the normally unused tracks could continue for the next couple of weeks with a train about every other day. Always use extra caution around train tracks and at their crossings and take note that for the next few weeks you may encounter a train on the eastbound CSX tracks through Clinton and Marion counties.
