CLINTON COUNTY — A Monday jury trial in Clinton County court was vacated Thursday after a 22-year-old New Baden man pleaded guilty to one of two sexual assault charges against him.

Michael Boothman was sentenced to 4-years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after he pleaded guilty to Class 1 felony criminal sexual assault of a victim unable to give consent.

In exchange for his guilty plea, a Class 1 felony charge of criminal sexual assault by force was dismissed.

In addition to his 4-year prison sentence, Boothman will have to serve 3-years to life mandatory supervised release after he completes his prison term, and will have to register as a sex offender.

Trenton police arrested Boothman on the charges in January and transported him to the Clinton County Jail where he has remained since that time.
