(MT. VERNON, IL) — A Walnut Hill couple is in the Jefferson County Jail charged with felony burglary. Mt. Vernon police arrested 50-year-old Mark A. Linkon and 30-year-old Ashley K. Dennis were each formally charged Thursday in Jefferson County court with Class 2 felony burglary. According to reports, warrants were issued for their arrests after the owner of property on Dix/Irvington Road reportedly caught them removing items from his barn. Dennis and Linkon are still facing felony charges in Wabash County after they allegedly stole a pickup truck and took sheriff’s deputies on a multi-county pursuit. Linkon made local headlines in 2015 when he attempted to take out orders of protection against a Marion County Sheriff’s deputy and the Marion County Sheriff’s Department. According to Marion County court records, Linkon initially claimed deputies burned his house down, then claimed they set his Jeep on fire, but when he appeared in front of Judge Mark Kelly said he was tired of being arrested. Judge Kelly denied Linkon’s requests as he has no family or household connection to the deputy and there is no basis in law for filing an order of protection against a governmental agency.
