(MT. VERNON, IL) — A 22-year-old Mt. Vernon man is in the Marion County Jail in connection with the January 2016 armed robbery of Blue Goose Liquor in Wamac. Darrell Haynes was arrested in Mt. Vernon on an outstanding Marion County warrant for felony armed robbery. Haynes was later transported from the Jefferson County Jail to the Marion County Jail with bail set at $50,000. He’s the third person charged in connection with the armed robbery. The two other men, 23-year-old Denzal Haynes and 27-year-old Steven Collier, both of Mt. Vernon, were charged in January. Denzal Haynes and Collier are both serving prison sentences in the Illinois Department of Corrections for armed robberies around the same time period as the Blue Goose robbery. The Marion County cases against them remain open while they serve time in prison. All three men had been charged in connection with the December 2015 armed robbery of Heights Financial on Broadway in Mt. Vernon, but charges against Darrell Haynes were dismissed when he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of resisting a peace officer.
