INA — A Herrin man was arrested at the Rend Lake College campus on Friday on several charges stemming from an alleged sexual assault against a 15-year-old.

26-year-old Joseph A. Ryker was taken into custody around noon on Friday by Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputies and United States Marshals. Ryker is accused of six counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, one count of grooming a child and one count of indecent solicitation of a child.

Ryker is employed by John A. Logan College where he has served as band and choir director at West Frankfort High School as part of a dual-credit program.

Police reports indicate that more charges are possible in the ongoing investigation.
