(SALEM, IL) — A 34-year-old Centralia man pleaded guilty Thursday in Marion County Court to two of five felony counts of sexual assault and abuse. James R. Evilsizer was sentenced to 20 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after he pleaded guilty to two Class X felony counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child under the age of 13. Two Class 2 felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and a Class 1 felony count of criminal sexual assault were dismissed per the plea agreement. He was scheduled for a bench trial Thursday but instead entered into a plea agreement with the state. Court reports say the activity started in August 2014 and continued into August 2016 when Centralia Police opened an investigation. Evilsizer had remained in the Marion County Jail since his April 2016 arrest, with bail set at $350,000. He will have to serve at least 85-percent of his 20-year prison sentence along with 3-years to life supervised release after completing his prison term and register as a sex offender for life.
