(CHESTER, IL) — An incident Sunday night at Menard Correctional Center in Chester involving multiple inmates and correctional officers resulted in the facility being placed on full-lockdown. According to AFSCME spokesman Eddie Caumiant, details are still coming. But he says several officers and inmates were involved in the incident, with at least two officers being hospitalized due to injuries suffered in the incident. Other union sources say one of those officers remained hospitalized Monday night. The incident happened during the 3-11 p.m. shift. Caumiant said he still didn’t have complete details Monday night, but information indicated some officers suffered concussions, cuts and serious bruises, along with some teeth being knocked out.
