(WEST FRANKFORT, IL) — Firefighters from West Frankfort, Benton, Zeigler and Ewing were called out to a fire on Gossett Street in West Frankfort around 1:20 Sunday afternoon after getting reports of a loud explosion and house fire. According to WSIL-TV, after arriving on scene, firefighters were able to put the fire out quickly, but the house is considered a total loss. Neighbors say no one lived in the home and added that it was used as a hunting cabin during the year. Officials say the cause of the fire is not known at this time, but foul play has been ruled out.
