(MT.VERNON, IL) — The Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund will be holding their 2017 rate meeting for the Mt. Vernon area on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Drury Inn & Suites in Mt. Vernon. Individuals can learn how good returns for the IMRF can translate to positive growth for the community’s cash flow.  While underfunded and bankrupt pension plans continue making headlines across the United States, the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) is flourishing; investment numbers are up and rates are down. “With an almost eight percent return on investments, 2016 was a solid year for IMRF’s financial performance,” said IMRF Executive Director Louis W. Kosiba. “It exceeded the plan’s 7.5 percent assumed rate of return, which is good news for our neighbors across the state of Illinois.” Now recognized at the 47th largest retirement plan in the nation, according to Pensions & Investments magazine, IMRF is the best-funded public pension plan in Illinois.
