Coroner Finds Elephant Tranquilizers in Overdose Victims

(Springfield, IL)  —  There’s a new worry about the heroin making the rounds in central Illinois. Springfield’s coroner yesterday said that she’s found traces of elephant tranquilizers in overdose victims. Sangamon County Coroner Cinda Edwards said carfentanil is 50-times more powerful than heroin, and isn’t supposed to be used on people. Edwards said two people who’ve died this spring had the drug in their systems.
