(ZEIGLER, IL) — Just weeks after a Southern Illinois school district nearly missed payroll due to a lack of state funding it’s had to pay teachers a week late. Zeigler-Royalton school district has joined others the last two years on a waiting list for money from the state, that wasn’t guaranteed.  Superintendent George Wilkerson tells WSIL-TV that the school should be receiving two forms of payment: General state aid and categorical payments but the last three categorical payments haven’t been paid and leave the school district short by more than $344,000.  Those late payments to the school mean the school is late issuing paychecks to its 70 staff members.
