EFFINGHAM – Illinois State Police (ISP) District 12 Commander, Captain Cory Ristvedt, announces the results of a Roadside Safety Check (RSC) held in Marion County from late night Friday, April 7 to early morning Saturday, April 8. The RSC was conducted in Centralia, by District 12 officers. Authorities issued 13 total citations and 15 total written warnings including 2 insurance violations, 5 driver’s license offenses, 4 registration offenses, 3 occupant restraint offenses, and 3 alcohol or drug citations.  There were no DUI citations issued during this safety check.  Alcohol and drug impairment is a factor in more than 30 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois, and throughout the U.S., nearly 10,000 people die each year due to alcohol-impaired driving.  RSCs are designed to keep our roads safe by taking dangerous DUI offenders off the road.  This project was funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
