(EFFINGHAM, IL) — A retail theft turned into an armed robbery for an Effingham retail store Wednesday afternoon after employees, alerted by an alarm sounding, approached a pair of suspects, and one displayed a gun and fired a shot past one of the employees. No one was injured in the incident that happened at Prime Sole in Effingham. According to the Effingham Daily News, two men had shoplifted clothing and had proceeded toward the exit when the alarm went off.  Witness reports say that The shooter was a black man in a white shirt with his hair in long dreadlocks.  The second man was reported as a black man of darker complexion with short hair wearing a royal blue Kansas City Royals jacket.  The suspects fled in a silver newer model Hyundai Santa Fe SUV with Kansas plates. Authorities continue to investigate the case as no arrests have been made.
