City Council Approves Municipal ID Card Program

(Chicago, IL)  —  Chicago will be offering municipal identification cards.  City Council members approved an ordinance yesterday that gives undocumented immigrants, the homeless and those with a criminal record the ability to obtain a city ID.  The measure passed despite loud opposition from a handful of aldermen.  Mayor Emanuel introduced the program as a way to stand up to President Trump’s promise to crack down on people living in the U.S. illegally.
