(INA, IL) — Authorities From Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Ina Police Department, along with Waltonville Fire Department and Littons Ambulance responded Saturday evening at approximately 6 p.m. to a report of a female laying in the middle of the roadway that eventually led to the arrest of an Ina man. According to police reports, the female indicated that a male counterpart named Jeff had battered her. After a search for the suspect, authorities arrested 47 year old Jeffrey Axe for charges of Domestic Battery, Unlawful operation/driving of non-highway vehicle or ATV, and DUI 4^th plus offense while license suspended or revoked. Axe was transported to the Jefferson County Justice Center where he was Monday awaiting the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail. The unidentified female refused to give a statement or receive treatment for her injuries.
