(MT. VERNON, IL) — Mt. Vernon City Council met Monday evening. Among items on the agenda, the Council accepted Mt. Vernon Glass’ lowest bid for doors for City Hall at the cost of $16,288, and accepted KRB Construction’s low bid of $129,956.75 for the Northbrook Drive storm sewer improvement project. The City Manager requested and was granted permission to seek bids for electrical, HVAC, and plumbing improvements to City Hall, and permission was granted to seek bids for the Armory project. a request to waive bidding requirements for signage at the new industrial park, as well as the naming of the new industrial park was pulled from the agenda due to the absences of two council members.  The City Attorney gave second readings of an ordinance annexing real estate to the city and an ordinance concerning manufactured homes, both which were tabled,. Finally, the Mayor submitted for appointment of Ariel Kabat and the reappointment of Larry Sidewell and Sarah Sledge to the Mt. Vernon Tourism Board, the reappointment of Mary Ellen Bechtel and Chris Deichman to the 911 Board, and the reappointment of Gary Chesney to the Airport Authority Commission, which were all approved. A City Council workshop is scheduled for 5 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall Chambers for the purpose of reviewing the Fiscal Year 2017-2018 Preliminary Budget and to hear addresses from the audience before going into executive session.
