Prosecutors: Cook County Judge Killed In Botched Robbery Attempt

(Chicago, IL)  —  Prosecutors say Cook County Judge Raymond Myles was shot and killed during a botched robbery attempt that had been planned for weeks.  During a court hearing yesterday, prosecutors revealed that Joshua Smith drove the suspected gunman to Myles’ house on Chicago’s South Side early Monday with the intention of robbing his girlfriend.  The suspect took the woman’s gym bag and shot her in the leg before shooting the judge, who came out to confront him.  Smith was ordered held without bail on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated battery and obstructing police.  No other arrests have been made.
