(MARION, IL) — A 42-year-old Murphysboro man is in the Williamson County Jail after he was arrested during a traffic stop while wearing a bulletproof vest and carrying a sword. According to reports, James Monk was stopped around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, by a Carterville police officer and was found to be wearing a bulletproof vest and carrying a sword in his vehicle. Officers from Crainville and John A. Logan College also responded to the scene and reported a brief altercation with Monk. Monk was ultimately arrested for alleged unlawful use of weapons, aggravated assault, and unlawful use of body armor. He was transported to the Williamson County Jail.
