(MARION, IL) — You can expect lane closures on I-57 south of Marion starting Tuesday morning for roadway rehabilitation. According to IDOT, southbound I-57 will be reduced to one lane starting at 7 a.m. just north of Illinois 148 to the Johnson County line. The Illinois 148 southbound off-ramp will be closed Tuesday and will reopen Saturday, April 22 weather permitting. Due to lots of traffic on this section of I-57, you can expect major delays between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. You should also be aware that incidents causing delays can happen at any time. Work is expected to last through late May with all lanes open for the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Message boards will be set up to inform you about the road work. You should seek other routes to your destination. Illinois 37 has also been marked as a detour route for traffic.
