Vandalia Man To Be Sentenced For Child Pornography Charge

(VANDALIA, IL) — A 57-year-old Vandalia man is scheduled to be sentenced today in Fayette County court on felony charges related to child pornography. A Fayette County jury found William Frakes guilty in February of two Class X felonies of possessing child pornography depicting a child under the age of 13 in a sadistic manner and Class 2 felony possession of child pornography depicting a child under the age of 13. Following the return of the jury’s verdict, Frakes was remanded back to the Fayette County Jail without bond. A court ordered pre-sentencing report has been completed and the court has received a letter from the defendant. Frakes has no significant criminal history prior to his 2016 arrest on the child pornography charges.  A Class X conviction is punishable by between 6 and 30 years in prison while a Class 2 is punishable by between 3 and 7 years.
