Lawsuit Filed To Keep Elected Markham Mayor Out Of Office

(Markham, IL)  —  The Cook County state’s attorney’s office is trying to prevent the newly elected mayor of Markham from taking office.  Prosecutors filed a lawsuit yesterday that seeks an injunction to ban Roger Agpawa from becoming mayor because of his prior felony conviction.  Agpawa pleaded guilty to mail fraud in 1999.  He was elected earlier this month with about 72-percent of the vote.
