HUD Tells Cairo Residents They Have To Move

(Cairo, IL)  —  Moving day is coming for hundreds of people living in public housing in Cairo. And they are furious about it. The department of Housing and Urban Development yesterday told about 200 families they will have to move out of complexes that used to belong to the Alexander County Housing Authority in the next few months. HUD says the apartments are beyond repair. The federal government took over the apartments last year after years of neglect by local leaders.
