(BENTON, IL) — We now know the identity of the Highland man who was found dead in rural Thompsonville Saturday. Franklin County Coroner Marty Leffler says its 51-year-old John J. Wallace. Leffler says an autopsy was conducted on Sunday to rule out any foul play. He is now awaiting toxicology results which will take 4 to 6 weeks to get back. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office got word Friday from Highland Police that Wallace was a missing endangered person who was probably in the Franklin County area. A search began on the ground and by air for Wallace Friday, but only his vehicle was found. A search team found Wallace dead Saturday in a creek bed in the area where his vehicle was found in rural Thompsonville. Leffler pronounced Wallace dead at the scene.
