(Mt. Vernon, IL) — Senator Paul Schimpf recently visited SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital. Schimpf last Friday toured the hospital, met frontline staff, and spoke with hospital leadership about issues affecting Illinois residents and their healthcare needs. The hospital’s leadership team spoke with Schimpf about issues with Illinois Medicaid and the millions of dollars owed to SSM facilities for services and the controversial plan to expand mandatory managed care for Medicaid enrollees.  The group discussed lack of mental health resources for patients and shortages of nurses and clinical positions in our region.
