Storms Create Havoc In Southern Illinois

(MARION, IL) — Storms that moved through the region Wednesday left behind flooded roads and damage from a possible tornado near Crab Orchard Lake. In Marion County emergency agencies reported flooding Wednesday night on low-lying areas that normally flood. One vehicle was reportedly stranded in high water at Brickhill Road, but the occupants were able to get out and to safety. The vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported after storms on Wednesday hit White County, where a funnel cloud was reported as the severe weather swept through. WSIL-TV reports scattered damage around the town of Enfield, including several roofs ripped off buildings. In Williamson County, one home had the roof ripped off in what was possibly a tornado near Crab Orchard Lake. There were no injuries reported to those inside the home at the time. Other reports indicate downed trees and power lines across the region, with one tree reportedly going through the roof of a home in Carbondale.
