Lawsuit Filed Over Video Gaming Profits

(Chicago, IL)  —  Tavern owners are suing the state of Illinois over what their lawyer calls a state “mandated shakedown.”  The lawsuit, filed yesterday, says Illinois’ law that gives the state 50-percent of the profits from every video gaming machine in the state is unconstitutional.  Tavern and restaurant owners say the law forbids them from negotiating a split, while requiring them to pay for most of the other costs of the machines.
