(MT. VERNON, IL) — The Mt. Vernon City Council will meet for the final time before Tuesday’s election tonight at 7 p.m.  Among items on the agenda, the council will hear bid results for Lincoln Park concessions and for waterproofing the City Hall basement.  The City Manager will request permission to seek bids for Fourth of July Salute to Freedom fireworks display and to replace the approach pavement to Fire Station 1 engine bays, to seek quotes to replace the awning on the west entry of City Hall, and to close Pauline Street from 10th Street to 9th Street on April 22nd for the purpose of Route 37 performance. The City Attorney will give second readings concerning annexation of real estate, an ordinance concerning manufactured homes, and an ordinance concerning the sale of fireworks, ordinances approving the rezoning of property and approving a conditional use to allow a dwelling unit in relation to funeral home operations at 601 S. 42nd Street, and resolutions approving a contract for professional services with Peckham, Guyton, Albers, & Viets, Inc. related to the North 44th Street Business District, approving of an agreement with Westport Pools for grate installation at the Aquatic Zoo, approving of an agreement with Jefferson County Sports Authority for concessions at Lincoln Park, approving a proposal from Black & Sons Construction related to work at Park Plaza Shopping Center, and accepting a grant from the Illinois Housing Development Authority’s Trust Fund Home Accessibility Program. Finally, the Mayor will provide an Arbor Day proclamation.  The busy meeting will be held at the Rolland W. Lewis Community Building.
