(SALEM, IL) — A 37-year-old Centralia man was arrested Friday night after Centralia police responded to a disturbance at the Poplar Place. Brian Pruett reportedly resisted police as they tried to remove him from the bar. Pruett was taken to the Marion County Jail for alleged aggravated battery to a peace officer, aggravated assault, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, and disorderly conduct. Reports say they were responding to a call to remove an unwanted person from the bar when upon their arrival they found Pruett being kept outside the bar by two others. Pruett reportedly refused to leave and as officers were leading him away he allegedly turned and with his left arm struck an officer in the shoulder and neck. As officers took Pruitt to the ground, he allegedly resisted being handcuffed and began making verbal threats. A search of Pruett reportedly revealed drug paraphernalia in his pocket.
