Irvington Man Charged With Reckless Homicide After Belleville Traffic Crash

BELLEVILLE — An Irvington man has been charged with reckless homicide in St. Clair County Court following a March 10th crash in Belleville that killed a Belleville woman.

In addition to reckless homicide with a motor vehicle, 35-year-old Steven Conklin was charged with driving on a revoked license and obstructing justice.

The wreck resulted in the death of 36-year-old Amelita Milburn who died a few hours after the collision.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports that Conklin fell to his knees and began to cry when the charges were being read at the St. Clair County Courthouse on Thursday. The public defender was appointed to represent Conklin, even though Conklin said he didn’t need a lawyer. Bond has been set at $100,000.
