Mt. Vernon — More charges have been filed in connection with the January shooting of DeAndray Jackson.

23-year-old Savon Cummings of Mt. Vernon was formally charged with Obstructing Justice in Jefferson County Court on Monday. Cummings is the sixth person facing charges in the case.

Court reports reveal that Cummings allegedly gave false information to investigators regarding his knowledge of Jackson’s murder in January. Cummings reportedly denied any knowledge of the murder.

Authorities accuse Cummings of knowing that the alleged murder weapon had been hidden in his grandmother’s house by his brother. If found guilty, Cummings faces one to three years in prison on the Class 4 Felony charge. Cummings is being held in the Jefferson County Justice Center on $100,000 bond.
