Mt. Vernon Man Arrested In Domestic Dispute

(MT. VERNON, IL) — Mt. Vernon Police Department authorities were called Sunday evening to the 700 block of Conger to a report of criminal damage to property incurred when an individual reportedly threw a chair through a window.  Arrested was 54 year old Tadero Taylor of Mt. Vernon.  According to reports, a reporting person had indicated that Taylor had broken a window with a chair and that person had an order of protection against Taylor.  During the course of the investigation, Taylor had returned to the scene.  The responding officer attempted to speak with Taylor, who was uncooperative. During this process, Taylor reached toward his waistband and began charging the officer, then ensuing in a physical altercation that moved the officer backwards, tripping the officer over an air conditioning unit.  After both fell to the ground during the altercation, Taylor began to strike the officer in the face.  The officer was able to gain control and secure Taylor into custody.  The officer suffered minor injuries, but refused medical treatment.  Taylor was charged with felony resisting a peace officer resulting in injury, aggravated battery of a peace officer, criminal damage to state supported property, violation of an order of protection, and on an outstanding St. Louis, MO city warrant on three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of cannabis.  Taylor is being held in the Jefferson County Justice Center without bond awaiting his first court appearance.  Taylor is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
