(BENTON, IL) — Two Franklin County men face a variety of charges following a traffic stop in West Frankfort Thursday afternoon. Franklin County Sheriff Don Jones says 40-year-old Kevin W. Shuman of Benton and 33-year-old Monte H. Johnson of West Frankfort were arrested. Shuman was charged with driving while license suspended, possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. He was also wanted on a warrant for failure to appear on a previous felony arrest involving drug activity. Johnson, who is on parole, was charged with possession with intent to deliver ecstasy – a Class X felony – possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. Both men are lodged in the Franklin County Jail pending review by the State’s Attorney’s office and further investigation. Jones says more charges are possible.
