(LOUISVILLE, IL) — A 23-year-old Chicago man has been sentenced in Clay County Court to 17 years in prison for the attempted murder of a Flora woman in November. According to court records, Prince K. Uche, pleaded guilty to Class X attempted first degree murder and Class X armed robbery for a November 8, 2015 incident in which he stabbed a Flora woman at her home and took her credit card. The victim reportedly suffered a single stab wound in her ribcage and had to be transported to an Evansville, Indiana hospital where she had to undergo surgery. Per the plea agreement, two Class X charges of armed violence were dismissed in that case and the prosecution agreed to not seek charges of escape and aggravated battery against Uche for an alleged February 8 incident at the Clay County Jail. Truths in sentencing guidelines require Uche to serve 85 percent of his 17 year sentence. He was given credit for 96 days served and ordered to pay more than $88,000 in restitution to his victim.
