Madigan Plans Probe Of Rauner’s New Business Group

(Springfield, IL) — Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan says lawmakers will scrutinize the new, privately-run job-creation agency formed by Governor Rauner through executive action. A statement from Madigan says that while the agency could produce lasting benefits, a special committee of lawmakers must make sure that its workings are transparent. When Rauner announced the Illinois Business Economic and Development Corporation, he said that it would not be subject to the state’s Freedom of Information Act, but that the deals it offers to companies will be subject to administrative and legislative review.
