(Carbondale, IL) — Southern Illinois University could be facing a large setback if Governor Rauner’s proposed 2017 budget is approved. SIU President Randy Dunn says the school will experience 40-million-dollars in cuts if the spending plan is enacted. He says that would cause a “wholesale ending of programs” at the university’s three campuses. Universities and colleges around the state have gone eight months without state funding because of the budget crisis.
