(JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL) — A motorcycle crash Saturday afternoon in Jefferson County injured a New Minden man. Illinois State Police say around 5:15, a 49-year-old man – whose name is being withheld due to the severity of his injuries and notification of family members – was going west on Illinois 15 near Hawk Lane when he attempted to pass a vehicle in front of him while traveling in a no passing zone. The driver was not able to negotiate a curve in the roadway and lost control of his motorcycle, causing him to fall off. The motorcycle sustained major damage and was towed away. The driver was airlifted from the scene to a St. Louis area hospital with major injuries. Illinois 15 was closed for an hour during the crash investigation.
