Governor Supports Bill To Trim Down School Mandates

(Springfield, IL) — Governor Rauner is announcing his support of legislation he says would save Illinois public schools more than two-hundred-million dollars and relief from unfunded mandates. House Bill 6164, sponsored by Representative Ron Sandack, would eliminate restrictions on third-party contracting, according to a Rauner press release. He says relief from that mandate is already provided to Chicago Public Schools. The bill also eases requirements on schools to offer drivers education and physical education classes.
