(MT. VERNON, IL) — Two days after 29-year-old Marventi Palmer pleaded guilty to Second Degree murder in the 2010 shooting death of 15-year-old Deon Feggins, two new suspects face charges in that murder case, but they remain at large. According to Jefferson County State’s Attorney Doug Hoffman, he filed First Degree murder charges against 37-year-old Edward Gilbert, of Chicago, and 36-year-old Dwaine McDonald, of Du Quoin for Feggins murder. Hoffman says the charges alleged that on August 8, 2010, Gilbert and McDonald shot and killed Feggins as he rode his bike on Conger Street in Mt. Vernon. Palmer, who was already serving a 20-year prison sentence on a drug related conviction, was sentenced this week to an additional 10-year sentence in prison for Feggins’ murder, but that sentence won’t begin until his current drug sentence is completed in 2022.
