URBANA, Ill. (AP) — The top fundraiser at the University of Illinois’s flagship campus is leaving for a job at the University of Washington. According to The News-Gazette, Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement Dan Peterson recently told colleagues he has accepted a job as chief budget officer for advancement at Washington. University of Illinois spokeswoman Robin Kaler said his last day at Illinois will be Feb. 29. University of Illinois Foundation executive Jim Moore Jr. said the news was a surprise. The university is getting ready to start a new fundraising campaign in 2017. Under Peterson the Urbana-Champaign campus raised a record $184 million in 2014 and about $182 million in 2015.
