Illinois Athlete Apologizes For Damaging Menorah

(Champaign, IL) — A suspended softball player at the University of Illinois is taking responsibility for vandalizing a menorah outside a Jewish center on campus. Ruby Rivera apologized for her actions in a letter sent to “The Champaign News-Gazette.” Rivera was arrested after a menorah at the Chabad Center was damaged earlier this month. She is scheduled to appear in court later this month on a preliminary charge of criminal damage to property.
